Weekly Roundup 2/2/20

An A La Carte of links to things I came across in the last week that I found interesting.

How To Consume Many Books

I read a lot of books but that doesn't always look like sitting down with a cup of coffee and a paperback in hand although that is my favorite way to read. I also read a lot of ebooks and for me this is a love/hate relationship. While I certainly prefer a paper book there are some real benefits to ebooks like how I can have instant access to thousands of books with me at all times, usually ebooks are a little cheaper than paper books, and how you can turn ebooks into audiobooks.

Yep, that's right, you don't have to purchase a bunch of high priced audiobooks, that is if you can deal with the voice of Alexa. If you're like me and spend a lot of time driving, by putting the Alexa App on your phone your ebooks can be read to you just like an audiobook. Here is a more detailed post on how you do it. You can even change the speed of reading just by asking. This isn't my favorite way to consume books but if I have to choose this or not having time to read, I choose this.

A New Christian Website You Might Enjoy

I recently helped a friend build his new website. PursuingChristDaily.org is a ministry website from Pastor Randy Sidwell where he writes a variety of posts on Christian living, Christian history, Inspiration, and Book Reviews and giveaways.

Behold Our God

This is a favorite of mine and I think this is a great performance by the CBU Choir of this wonderful song from Sovereign Grace Worship. I thought some you might enjoy it as well.

Free Budgeting Bundle

My friend Tom is offering a great tool on his website for free. If you have debt or simply don't have a budget then you should head over to his site SmallScaleLife.com and get the Free Budgeting Bundle and get on the right track to freedom.

Are You Getting Ripped Off By Hot Fuel?

I was recently made aware of this from my friend Buck who hosts the Trucking After Hours Podcast (which I will be co-hosting tonight with him). Hot fuel (not stolen but literally the temperature) believe it or not is ripping people off. Check out this article from OOIDA.

6 For 6-Pack Program To Support Organic Farming

I thought this was different and interesting. Michelob Ultra Pure Gold launched its 60-second Super Bowl spot featuring 6 For 6-Pack, a new program that allows consumers to join the brand in helping farmers transition six square feet of farmland into organic with each purchase of a six-pack of Michelob Ultra Pure Gold.

Book Recommendation:

Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners by John Bunyan

This is a book that has been on my shelf for quite a while but hadn't got around to reading but I'm glad I finally did. I've always admired what I've heard about the life of this Puritan author of the famous book "The Pilgrim's Progress" but reading his autobiography about his life was a real eye-opener for me. This man was a man like us, a person who struggled with sin, who felt unworthy of salvation and clung to the grace of God for his hope.

Don't forget, you can now get a copy of my book, "From Home To Small Town Homestead: Pursuing Self-Sufficiency and Sustainability No Matter Where You Live" Available at Amazon in Paperback.
